PROF. DENNIS A. ITYAVYAR PAID UNANNOUNCED VIVIST TO GREAT STAR ACADEMY, EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT
The Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dennis A. Ityavyar, earlier today led a team from the ministry on an inspection and verification exercise to Great Star Academy, located at Wadata area of Makurdi.
The School which runs post-primary, Primary and junior secondary programs is said to be operating illegally without approval from the state ministry of Education by one Mr. Frederick Olofu Obiabo, and Mr. Jatto Abdulrahaman as Co-proprietors.
At the end of the exercise it was discovered that the institution has been in operation for a year now under an unhealthy environment with substandard facilities, which is an aberration of the ministry's guidelines.
The commissioner expressed disappointment with the condition of the school, and set up a mini committee to fine-tune the best way possible to deal with the matter without rancour and report back to him within one week with a view to transfer the students and pupils to other schools within the state with conducive environment.
