OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. SAMUEL ORTOM, THE EXECTIVE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATE
OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, DR. SAMUEL ORTOM, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATE
Passionate Appeal on the Emergency Need to Once Again Extend Your Magnanimity to Students of Benue State Origin in the Nigerian Law School.
Good day His Excellency,
The democratically elected Executive Governor of Benue State. I am confident you are doing well in your determination to uplift Benue State.
His Excellency, it has become pertinent to write you on the above subject because of exigencies of time and the urgency to which your humaneness is implored. There is an untold difficulty your sons and daughters who are currently at the various campuses of the Nigerian Law School are faced with and except you act as prayed, the worst may happen.
Sir, you have become a deep scratch on the consciences of young lawyers and law students of Benue State origin for re-introducing the scholarship scheme hitherto enjoyed by the Benue Law Students who were on admission at the Nigerian Law School. It stands tall a record that, last year , over 220 Students benefited from this scheme with each of them earning N200,000. This became the highest ever amount paid and to the highest ever number of beneficiaries. The joy this gesture triggered among beneficiaries and their parents or guardians will not be forgotten in a hurry.
His Excellency Sir, the 2018/2019 batch of the Nigerian Law School commenced since last year October and up till this moment, my colleagues but of legal training have sincerely hoped that your magnanimity will come through soon. Most of them had challenges of raising the tuition and had to resort to borrowing. Having struggled to resume, most of them cannot sustain themselves through the programme due to hardship. Some have taken ill and all these will, in long run make them discontinue or affect their performances at the end of the programme.
Sir, I use this medium to, on behalf of the Law students of Benue State origin currently in the Nigerian Law School, plead
Comr Tyonor Smith
NUBESS national president.
