Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today gave an insight into the composition of caretaker committees which will run local governments at the expiration of the tenure of elected councils in June this year.
He gave the insight at an expanded caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi.
The Governor appealed to stakeholders from each local government to deliberate and forward three names for selection of one of them as chairman.
The stakeholders, he said, should include national and state assembly members, those in the state executive council as well as those holding party positions who should meet at the local government headquarters to deliberate on the matter.
He stated that the law provides for a caretaker chairman and seven supervisors adding that those nominated for the chairmanship position should possess at least a degree or Higher National Diploma.
