ORTOM SIGNS PENCOM ESTABLISHMENT BILL, TWO OTHERS INTO LAW By Jimin Geoffrey Governor Samuel Ortom yesterday signed into law a bill for the establishment of Benue State Contributory Pensions Scheme, PENCOM, in order to address the challenge of payment of pensions and gratuities of retirees. The Governor also assented to the bill for a law to provide for the administration of Criminal Justice in the Courts of Benue State and for purposes connected therewith. Also assented to by the Governor was a bill for a law to prohibit all forms of violence against persons in private and public life, provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders and for purposes connected therewith. ORTOM APPRECIATES PARADE MOUNTED IN HIS HONOUR By Jimin Geoffrey Governor Samuel Ortom has appreciated the security agencies for the impressive parade mounted in his honour as part of activities lined up for his inauguration today at the IBB Square Makurdi. The Governor who stated this after inspecting the parade commended the Nigerian Police for being professional in their conduct even when the state was confronted with security challenges. He also commended sister security agencies for their enormous contributions to the restoration of peace in the state, saying they had done their best in combating criminality and killings in the Food Basket State. He sympathized with families of fallen heroes who died in the course of defending the state, even as he ordered for the observation of a one minute silence in their honour. The Governor also prayed God to grant the fallen heroes eternal rest.

Naija News  reports that the party made this known in a notice of appeal filed to the Supreme Court on Friday, May 24, where the party faulted the striking out of its motion on the notice by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on May 22, on the ground of lack of merit.
